Bindiya Sharma : WBFF Bikini Pro

Years ago in India, weightlifting was predominantly a male space. Very few females lifted the cultural and social norms bar and entered the world of bodybuilding. Bindiya Sharma is one of them.

Bindiya Sharma is a former fashion model turned fitness expert. She is also a bikini athlete who has represented India in the ‘World Beauty Fitness & Fashion Pro 2017’ - One of the most renowned international competitions for beauty & fitness. Bindiya made the country proud by winning the WBFF Pro card & becoming the first ever WBFF International athlete from India.

From being the 1st runner up at Fit Factor India 2017, Bindiya Sharma went on to ace the Jerai Classic 2017 and then winning Sheru Classic Bikini 2019.

The 40+ fitness athlete now plans to compete in IFBB and bring many more laurels to the country.

Bindiya Sharma was born and brought up in Delhi. Her father also belongs to an athletic background. Since her early schooling days, she had a deep interest in sports and was a gold medallist throughout.

She graduated from Delhi university and holds certifications in pre n post natal, kettle bell, yoga & functional training. She’s also a certified ACE trainer (American Council on Exercise) and holds expertise in weight management, nutrition, exercise counselling and health coaching.

A single mother of 2 lovely daughters, Bindiya takes fitness as a lifestyle and not as a three months wight loss programme. She is passionate about what she does and has been transforming people of all age groups.

“You Don't Have To Be Good To Start, Just Start To Be Good.”

Bindiya Sharma walked into the doors of the ramp the day she wanted to be a model. Beautiful, fairly tall young girl started her career as a fitness model, but then she entered into the world of bodybuilding to return with redefined ambitions.

She started her bodybuilding journey after she became a mother. She started gearing up for the international competitions and in just one year time she reached to the spot and since then the lady has been claiming accolades only. Soon, she went on to win four medals at both the national and international level.

She has been into fitness for 10 years, and she is also the Co-Owner of Rhinos Gym, set up at Malviya Nagar. Once a fashion model, now fitness queen of India. Her Dedication towards her goal has been the key to her Success.

There were many hurdles on her way as bodybuilding is totally different from fashion field. Muscle building was very tough. Becoming a non vegetarian from a complete vegetarian was another big challenge.

Being a woman she faced more problems, but took them on bravely. Her family being orthodox had their reservations about her competing on stage in a bikini. Another challenge was to deal with society. For most people competing and entering this profession as a 36 year old mother wasn’t easily acceptable. She however took the challenge and followed her heart.

Her passion and will were something that gave reassurance to her own determination and made her dynamic success possible.

She has worked with many elite designers & choreographers. She has modelled for Chevrolet Beat TV commercial, Wills Fashion Week, Punjab and Chandigarh fashion week. She has also done print advertisements for many well known brands.

For her, life post success is still a struggle. As a single mother, managing work & kids all by herself is challenging.

She often wonders how can she contribute her bit to make the world a better place. She believes we can all play a big or small role in the life of others and brighten up their day.

She says “I am a feminist and will always stand by women I have overtaken the opportunity to motivate youth. To begin with it I go to govt schools and give motivational sessions. I train girls for free. I just feel if you are successful ,you must walk along with others and also make them successful.”

She adds “Always smile no matter what and always acknowledge others. Be kind and never compare yourself you are unique and give compliments.”
