A platform that has evolved during the COVID-19 pandemic to support women and help them build financial security

Currently a community of 53K members & growing every day, with a reach of over a million, Kool Kanya is a safe space for women to network professionally,exchange opportunities, share opinions and ask questions. The platform also offers career guidance, mentorship & opportunities for women to help them build careers they love and want to explore.

As the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about financial instability and economic

challenges for many, Kool Kanya is that fresh breath of air that is here to sustain

& support women who are facing loss of work & are looking for support, guidance and community.

Women based platforms and communities have grown significantly in India, as

they are evolving towards helping women achieve their goals & evoking emotions of sisterhood amongst each other. These communities have henceforth

come to play a vital role, acting as career support systems to women. Kool Kanya

is a blend of online and offline women targeted communities that lend support to

thousands of women, both emotionally and mentally.

Offering dialogue, career advice and tools to help modern Indian women build

& grow careers as per their passion, Kool Kanya fosters progressive conversations around relevant subjects & focuses on imparting guidance on topics like upskilling, freelancing, entrepreneurship, financial planning & mental health. Kool Kanya also curates online & offline events for women which allow them to network & engage in meaningful dialogue. Currently, they are offering constant online support to their community members through webinars, masterclasses, Digital bootcamps and hiring events.

The platform has done a few remarkable events & surveys in the past. - “Women in the Workplace”, recognizing women achievers nominated by other women and a Game changers Networking event, for the mentors in the Kool Kanya community. They have also done an #Unblocked series of events for freelance writers, on Business Funding and Growth and Networking.


During this pandemic they have started an initiative to support women who are

looking for jobs called GetWork 2020 - which is an online hiring event for the

Community. The latest event saw participation from 13 companies across 18

fields and 697 applications. It is important for women who have faced job loss

during the COVID-19 uncertainties.

They can also find work opportunities through a fully vetted & verified online marketplace, especially designed to bring together passionate and skilled women with credible buyers of products & services. This is designed keeping in mind the shifting economic

scenarios as a result of the pandemic, in order to help women have better &

easier access to credible opportunities and paying projects.






VANSHIKA GONEKA

CEO & Founder of Kool Kanya

Vanshika Goenka is the CEO & Founder of Kool Kanya, an online career community for women where they can be part of a mutually supportive ecosystem that helps them learn from each other and grow in their careers. Vanshika graduated in 2016 from Brown University - Bachelors in Political Science with Magna Cum Laude, Pi Sigma Alpha and Pi beta Kapha.

Vanshika started her career at a tech start-up that worked on creating an augmented reality textile toy. Post that she worked with a sanitary pad company which was when she noticed the disparity between men and women in the workplace. Understanding the gender disparity at work, she wanted to come up with a product solely for women, and thus Kool Kanya was formed in 2019. The

words she strongly associates the platform with are- trust, a safe space,

success and guidance.

Vanshika's vision is to create a one stop destination for everything to do with a woman’s career, create a platform that women find genuinely helpfu & provide them with the tools, resources and support needed in order to succeed. The issues that Kool Kanya wants to help resolve include providing a space to ask questions, fostering connections with people in similar fields, giving access to tools to help deal with legal and financial aspects, finding mentors and finding opportunities for collaborations. Over the last year Kool Kanya has successfully seen a reach of over a 1M users and are looking to launch their Marketplace soon.

In her view, Vanshika foresees the platform to grow and help more women in the future as women are increasingly looking up to take up freelancing and work from home opportunities as well. As per Kool Kanya’s observations, approximately 5.2 million women are looking for jobs in India. While more women are turning to freelancing as a career option, many of them are unsure about how to start, deal with legal and financial nuances or run an independent business, which is where Kool Kanya comes in.

Vanshika looks up to her mother as a role model and has always sought advice & support from her. Vanshika likes reading autobiographies/biographies, dancing, working out and loves to unwind by curling up with a book and a cup of tea. She is very passionate about travelling, enjoys getting out of her comfort zone and loves to explore new cultures
