Exquisite stove top, rose 'n' cardamom granola; healthy, no sugar, tasty with distinctive flavors

By Geetika Walia

Granola is such a versatile breakfast food. It is a breakfast cereal that has been popular since a long time now for the very right reasons. It's tasty, it's healthy, it's quick and a complete breakfast option. But what if I tell you that you can make your own granola at the ease of your home? What better than knowing what goes into your food! How about if you can make your own granola & that too a healthy one? Who would need a store bought, sugars and unhealthy oils loaded cereal!?

My granola recipe will surely leave you wanting for more. It has such exquisite flavors; I have combined the floral aromas of rose with hints of cardamom. The granola is dry roasted over stove to give it the perfect crunch!

Giving away my favorite granola recipe to all you out there. I hope you will love it as much as I do.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp dry grounded rose petals

  • 6 - 7 powdered green cardamoms

  • 1 cup oats

  • 1/2 cup shaved/cut almond pieces

  • 1/2 cup dry coconut flakes (not powder!) 3 tbsp honey

  • Pinch of salt

  • 2 tbsp any nut/seed butter

Recipe:

Dry roast oats & almonds on medium-high heat for 9-10 mins till crunchy and golden brown. Add in the coconut flakes & roast everything together for another 5-6 mins till the fragrance of coconut starts coming & the coconut starts browning a bit. Add in the remaining ingredients. Mix well. Remove from stove & let it cool in the skillet itself. Once it cools down completely, transfer it into an airtight container. Enjoy it on top of your smoothies, breakfast bowls, top it onto your yogurt or enjoy it as it is as a snack!

Storage:

It will keep fresh for over a month in an airtight container.

Note:

Though, I prefer using coconut flakes to add that perfect crunch. So best if flakes are used. But you can substitute dry coconut flakes with dry coconut powder. It won't be crunchy but still be flavorful.
